The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

5.0

I'm honestly speechless. If I talk, I'll ramble. I don't know what to say.

Everything, from the characters to the writing style to the plot, was absolutely stunning. I envy people
who are picking up The Book Thief for the first time, since they'll get to feel the magic I want to feel again.

REREAD #3 — 24th August, 2019: Damn you, Markus Zusak. You tear up my heart and step on it every goddamn time I read this book, and still I keep coming back to you.

REREAD #4 — 24th January, 2020: What did the world do to deserve this beautiful book?

REREAD #5 — 19th March, 2021: I've noticed many previously unnoticed things — Ilsa Hermanns in my life, Liesel's illiteracy being mistaken for ignorance, how Rudy's pride led to his downfall, and how Max rebelled against Nazi Germany in the smallest of ways. The Book Thief is a magical story.

REREAD #6 — 11th July, 2022: That feeling after finishing this book again.
