Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

3.0

I feel that this book is really overrated, reading it I've come to the conclusion that what makes a book universal literature ain't love or death as the academy tries to makes us think but that ability of its characters to complicate their own lives so unnecessarily, which is also common in real life. With that being said, I truly believe that most of this book is basically beating around the bush, but the last 40 chapters? oh man I wish the whole book was like that, that development of Anna's craziness due to the dissatisfaction with her own life, herself and Vronsky's inability to show her a love that he initially forced her to accept despite her pleads to leave her alone was just so accurate, it felt so real that I almost cried. I also liked the late 19th century Russian political context, it made me learn some stuff about a country with so much history. I definitely won't be reading again, it's an unsufferable long book
