“If you’re going to kill me, best get on with it. Because if you aren’t, drop that damn knife so I can kiss you.”

Betrayed by the man she loved and betrothed to his lord, Sabine has to hone her skills and balance political and family intrigues in an attempt to gain her freedom.

While the first book in the series mainly focused on introducing the gods and godkissed magic while heavily relying on the romantic plot, the sequel invests some more time into developing the political setting and introducing various (new) players.
Sabine enters a new deal with her soon-to-be husband that requires her to use her godkiss. At the same time, Wolf renturnes to his cabin and investigates the breach of the northern border.
Due to the dual POV, the reader has more knowledge than each individual character at every time point, but it is still easy to follow the story and collect the puzzle pieces.

Of course, there's a lot of romantic going on, too. I'd say it's about 50% of the book (not exclusively talking about spice here!) and especially lovers of forbidden romance, knife-to-throat and a "good girl" will have their fun reading.
