The Sorrows of Young Werther by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

2.0

Fascinating to read from a historical perspective, but from an enjoyment perspective it is tiresome. The romanticization of suicide alone would have angered me, but the surrounding nonsensical obsession with Charlotte was tedious to say the least. Again, very understandable why this would be interesting to a German in 1780, but I didn’t enjoy the narrative at all.
