Regeneration
by Pat Barker
I greatly enjoyed this book. Its characters were engaging; the mental battle of Rivers was highly intriguing. The portrayal of PTSD and war injuries were accurate. It wasn't terribly fast-paced, but it didn't drag on. There wasn't much diversity in the characters, however. There were hardly any women, and the soldiers all came from pretty similar demographics. It also contained fairly graphic descriptions of violence, so if it's not for people who are queasy about blood. The novel, although it is about a pretty dark topic, isn't a completely bleak and despondent. It has strong anti-war sentiments, but I dig it.
