The Night Before Christmas by Alex Pine

5.0

I’ve really enjoyed reading the DI James Walker books and have been barrelling through them this Christmas. I started slightly out of order (3,1 and then 2) and now I’m all even with the latest in the series - the night before Christmas: the latest to be released. I couldn’t wait to get stuck into this one.

They reliably make for such enjoyable and effortless reading (or listening if you had the audiobook like me). With the Cumbrian back drop, a cast of great characters and intriguing plots, love the Christmas theme and the cosy murder mystery vibes.

There was another enticing story, with the disappearance for four men which rapidly becomes a missing person hunt. The plot thickens when the police find the case wrapped up in controversial fox hunting and anti-hunt extremists, with a morbid message that ‘the hunt has just begun…’

Oooo shudders. Another great story in the series and I can’t wait for a (hopeful) next years read!
