A review by whimsicallyreading
Babel by R.F. Kuang

5.0

The world building and magic system that vehemently stems from wordplays are so well-researched and creative that it baffles me how r.f. kuang managed to weave such oxford lectures of post-colonialism, translation, and linguistics into a wider scope of historical fantasy fiction seamlessly. I personally find the characterizations could’ve been better as both sides’ moral standings can be too blatantly spoonfed to us readers save our main character Robin Swift, whose growth through the story had me at awe.

This book is such an ambitious yet handsome premise responding to dark academia literature and RFK understood the assignment. 4.5/5⭐️

The Swiftian anthem is my tears ricochet.
