Baltasar and Blimunda by José Saramago

My first thought after reading this book is "Gosh! this writer must be full of creative madness." i was hoping to get inside a simple "love story" from the 18th century but to my surprise it has everything to describe that time frame. The class struggle, power exercise of king and church, exploitation, Love and sacrifices hope and dreams, sufferings, stories of colonization,a flying machine and as cherry on top he gave super natural power to the character. Some pages hurts and some gives perfect wings for your imagination. Although i am still not super happy with the end but its a great read. Just like a classic painting of 18th century portugal with little detail of love story as an artistic border around it. Also it gave me a strong urge to visit 'Convent of Mafra' for once in this life.
