I love Gabrielle Zevin so much. She has an uncanny ability to tug at my heartstrings, and she does just that with Elsewhere. While this concept of the afterlife would scare me to death (pardon the pun), it made me think about life in a new way, especially when it comes to how people treat those of different ages. It's delicate and deep, tragic and comforting, and it left me with a gentler lens towards the world.
Don't let the YA label of this book deter you. It is anything but juvenile when it comes to the themes it handles, though it's appropriate for just about anyone.
