A poignant read about the Baby Sweep Era that has encouraged me to seek out more books about this little-spoken, shameful part of American history. I felt so much anger and sadness for Lorraine and the girls in the maternity home.

4 stars because I felt the book would have been more impactful if we were given more of a POV from Lorraine's family and friends while she was away. I also would have appreciated more time with Lorraine after she came home, and learning how her life went beyond the immediate few days following her return.
