Deadly Class Volume 1: Reagan Youth
by Rick Remender
Reading this to prepare for the TV show! Wow. I really enjoyed this, the art style was so bright at some parts like Vegas but dark, gritty and raw for others. This story is about high school, but not high school as we know it, a school for assassins. I really liked the build up and the scene changes between the past and the present, how we get to know Marcus' story, how he was homeless and how he got where he is now. He killed 2 people in the first volume wow. He did what he had to, to survive and Marcus high on LSD was hilarious, he was afraid of the mountains.
Marcus is slowly finding his way, smoking and making friends, he is doing what he needs to, to survive at this school.
It's generally very fast paced and I feel like more build up and development with the romance area would be good.
I however loved how Marcus spoke about vulnerability, emotions and his anxiety YES! I also really like all the different races and cultures represented which was so lovely to see.
