This was such a perfect way to part with this universe, and instead of writing a typical review I thought I’d write my thoughts on each short story from my favourite to my least favourite.
1. Formidable
Scythe Curie is the goat. I don’t know what else to tell you.
In all seriousness, this was genuinely my favourite out of all of these. Meeting Scythe Curie- just as intense as she is when we meet her in Scythe- but at 17 was such a fun exploration of her character. I really loved this one.
2. Cirri
This was too fun. I loved all the moments where we got to see into the Thunderheads mind in
thunderhead, and Cirrus is like that except much funnier.
3. A Martian Minute
However much I hate Goddard, this was an exposé we all needed.
4. The First Swing
This was one of my favourite poems I’ve ever read. It felt like something one of the founding scythes would have wrote.
5. A Dark Curtain Rises
I can’t say anything about this one without it being a spoiler, but it was TOO good.
6. Meet Cute and Die
This was hilarious!! It felt like something India Holton would write, and I love India so this really hit all the right spots.
7. A Death of Many Colours
This one felt the most similar to the main trilogy and that’s why I loved it.
8. The Mortal Canvas
The only one where I actually cried (I cried a lot during thunderhead and the toll). It was a rollercoaster and I love that for me
9. Never Work With Animals
ROWAN!!!!!
10. Anastasia’s Shadow
However much I love Citra, this did not hit the spot. I just don’t care for Ben that much
11. The Persistence of Memory
This was hilarious and that’s all I have to say
12. Perchance to Glean.
Many people care about RossShelf. I am not one of them
13. Unsavoury Row
I really just didn’t care lol.
