Eli and Cal are SO INTENSE!! I loved it! From the second Cal came back to Sweetwater, it wasn’t a question of if they’d get back together, but when.

They were each other’s first everything and now they’re each other’s last. I’m not crying, you are! I think the author did an amazing job showing how comfortable they still were with each other, even after all those years. Their bodies knew each other like no one else’s. But even though their bodies remembered, their hearts and minds weren’t quite there yet. They needed time to reconnect emotionally. I could really feel that and I loved it.

Eli had his heart broken once, and with it, his trust in Cal shattered. He needed to test him a little this time, to make sure he was really here to stay. It was intense and sad, but it felt necessary for them to start fresh, on strong foundations.
It was a slow burn of the heart, a heart that never stopped burning but needed its embers rekindled. And once their hearts caught up with their bodies, it was fireworks and volcanoes. I’m so happy Cal came back and they could finally finish what they started. My heart is full. I love them.

This book is such a great introduction to the series. I already feel like I know the other characters and I can’t wait to read all their stories!
