Under the Lion Star by Kathryn Moore
5.0
This was the perfect book to help me ease back into the fantasy genre (loved it when younger but haven’t read much in a while). It’s low world building and the story focuses more on the romance between the two main characters, their personal journeys, and their family relationships than on the fantastical elements.
I absolutely loved Zialda (FMC) - she was fiery and sassy but at the same time, a bit insecure. Just a very relatable character in my opinion. The way she never treated Leor differently even when discovering his true identity created an easy-going banter between the two of them and allowed for a slow burn friends to lovers romance. As for Leor, his possessiveness over Zailda was hot and I was all for the fierce protectiveness he showed for not just her, but the rest of his family as well.
The side characters (their respective siblings) made great additions, and I loved the relationships that were shown between them all. Also, the way Leor and Z brought out the best in each other and built the other’s confidence up in their personal struggles was perfect!
Overall, I am so happy I found this author on booksta and I can honestly say that she’s become a great book friend! I’m excited to go and read more of her books when my mood reader brain shifts to romantasy again!!
