The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

3.0

I don't think I really knew what this book was supposed to be about, even though I knew it was really famous. My first thought was that it was really short. The book I got from the library is around 200 pages, but only 55 of those pages is the actual story. The rest is the introduction, notes on the text, various comments by the author, and critical essays. And the ending was not what I expected, a little anticlimactic, actually. Though I suppose when you really think about it, there's no other way it could have ended.... But yes, it's essentially a three-chapter book about a man who wakes up one morning to find that he's been transformed into a human-sized beetle.
