This was a re-read for me and I increased my star rating to 5 this time around as I found it even better the second time around. It resonates with me as I related so much to being a very isolated stay-at-home mom whose husband was gone a lot. The feelings of anger, guilt at being angry, and guilt at not "appreciating" being a stay-at-home mom were all themes touched on here. Yes, she thinks she is becoming a dog, but this is not truly a horror book. It could be called a book about the horrors of motherhood, losing your sense of identity, and feeling like you are going crazy.
