Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders

2.0

I had to abandon this one. I really liked 10th of December, and I was excited to see an author I enjoy take on one of my favorite figures in American history. I was taken aback by the very creative structuring of the narrative (I obviously had not done my homework on this book!), and initially enjoyed the piecing together of a picture of Lincoln's White House in early days. But I found that the story became more and more about the spirits trapped in the graveyard, and I really wanted to spend more time with Lincoln! So after 100 pages, I decided to leave off and pursue something that I would enjoy more.
