The Kissing Booth by Beth Reekles

Yeah I read this out of boredom and uh.....

Noah is not a redeemable character at all, so I rooted against him the whole book. I hated how controlling and possessive he was over Elle. I didn’t see any character development from him - he just realized he couldn’t have Elle on a leash all the time and backed up the tiniest bit. Oh wow, maybe if I actually treat a girl with respect, she’ll start to like me?!?! Is this really what the author thinks girls want in guys? Someone who constantly objectifies you and dictates how you are supposed to live your life? I had some respect for Elle when she tried to stand up to Noah, but they always ended up making out anyways, so I gave up.

It was better than the atrocity of a film Netflix made, I’ll give it that. Lee is 100x more supportive in the book and forgives her a lot sooner. I really admire the way he handles Elle telling him about Noah. He had the right to be angry, of course, but he doesn’t throw the whole friendship out the window because of a stupid one-sided rule they made when they were six.
