Revival
by Stephen King
... what? Is this seriously the same book that other people have raved about?
This was a 400-page character study of a guy who wasn't really that interesting. Sure, I guess he had a moderately interesting life at times, but his internal life wasn't worth spending 50 years and 400 pages following along with. And then the ending ... what was the scary part there? This could have been an effective 40-page short story, but at 10x that length, it was a snoozefest.
To make the slog through this book still slower, I spent most of the book feeling as if I'd read it before. I hadn't. It just reads like practically every other SK book ever, with the same characters, same settings, same fears.
It seems I need to find a new favorite author.
