This book was fun. Like I really enjoyed it.
I listened to the audio book while riding the bus and it was really entertaining. I loved the narrators, and liked the pacing of the book.
This is like a fun fantasy read for me. I liked some of the characters a lot (Coco, Ansel, Lou), and found that, will I predicted most of the twists, their where still some that left me stunned. I do think Lou has like no survival instincts cause she is trying to not get caught and then does the most outlandish things that draw peoples attention. Like your in hiding girly, stop threatening to strip in the street. I like the magic system in this to. I was different then others I've read. I am excited to listen to the next book on my commute.
I was very skeptical for most of this book, as the forced marriage made very little sense to me. On many occasions I was wondering why they were doing this, and their were other options. It does make sense in the end, and is part of the big plot twist, but dam I was convinced for most of the book that the forced marriage was some rushed, not thought through trope for the author to include. I was happily mistaken, but still spent days thinking the forced marriage thing was weird.
