Oh Kaiiii.
Kai is one of those characters who had such a strong part in Rika and Michael's relationship that the connection between reader and character was guaranteed and you're bound to love him from the very beginning.
When I found out Hideaway was Kai's book I picked it up immediately after Corrupt.  While Hideaway was still an incredible book I just wish there was more Kai in it.  The FMC we follow in this book as a very strong connection with Damon, and due to his disappearance  a lot of this book was about Damon and it took away from the real story between Kai and Banks.
However, with that being said PD's ability to grip a reader will never falter,  the plot twists and the uncovered secrets were incredible and I enjoyed every part of it.

I've done some thinking about how the rest of the series may play out (I haven't worked much out but i'm trying), as I said, Hideaway was very focused on Damon due to his disappearance at the end of book 1,  I'm hoping that when Damon comes back in book 3 (Kill Switch) we will get some more insight to Kai and Banks as they sort of need Damons approval to be together.

I love me some juicy plot but there was so much plot in Hideaway that the relationship build-up was rushed and it was very much "I hate you.  Lets fuck.  I love you."  Respectfully, I know that Banks and Kai have history before the setting of the book, which we do get glimpses of, but personally I think there was too much negative tension and betrayal for all to be forgiven so fast.  I have so many questions that I know will be uncovered in Kill Switch but UGHHHHHHH.   Hideaway was just missing the devils night magic that Corrupt was jam packed with.

Banks' character development was probably my favourite part,  the way she found her confidence and began living by her own rules was lovely.  We saw glimpses of her at times and got an insight to the conflict going on in her head and the battles she was fighting.  In some ways I think Kai saved her life, she was spiralling into her own mind and losing who she was as a person.

I've come to the conclusion that Hideaway is basically a plot builder for the rest of the series,  while I wish we saw more Kai, as someone who is writing a series I understand the process.  I just hope that Hideaway has set us up for a wild journey in Kill Switch.

If you're reading the series in order, do not stop here if you're considering it.  Push through with me and have faith in the plot.

Why did Alex feel like more of a mai character than Kai?
