The Girl in the Road
by Monica Byrne
Wow, this was a crazy ride. It took me about 150 pages to really get into it, but the last 150 I read in one sitting. I'm still not sure I totally understood everything (especially the epilogue) but I got enough to have a clear picture of the story. I really don't agree that this is science fiction. I think it's more like speculative fiction in the same vein as Margaret Atwood in the sense that this takes place in a futuristic world that doesn't seem too far off. Loved the picture of the new world order in which global power has shifted Eastward.
