The Trio by Johanna Hedman

3.0

Started off really well. I was drawn to the writing early on.

The book’s divided into three parts and for some reason, the first hooked me the most despite it being the shortest. When the narrative shifted to the past, I expected it to alternate between the present but it never shifted back. I was a bit disappointed by that, if there was anything I wanted to know most in this book, it was what happened or what’s happening to the trio’s lives years down the line.

Aside from that, I found the trio’s relationship with each other interesting until it…wasn’t. Things became a bit repetitive for me in the latter half of the book. Although the atmosphere, the themes, and the prose were certainly up my alley. It just lost the spark for me midway.

Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the arc!
