The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
4.0
well this book was...interesting. not stellar, not awful, just...interesting
I explained it over the phone to a friend as "if the movie everything, everywhere, all at once was a book but it was purely just the crazy shenanigans, only had white main characters, and had none of the mother-daughter relationship growth" n after finishing it, im sticking with that explanation
I actually really liked Caroline, she did what she had to do n then got all of her answers by the end of the book in a pretty clear n concise way. God is truly a woman š«”
I'm giving this book a 4 purely because there was a bit too much gratuitous violence n too many casual mentions of SA/r*pe which is fitting for the story being told but I still was like ew, we're skipping ahead. also i was confused for over HALF of this book. I understand a book having a confusing plot that then makes sense like halfway through the book but godDAMN i was basically 80-85% done with the book before things started to make sense n even after that I was still a little like "okay but like why would we do it this way?" but maybe I had so much confusion because this book wasn't trying to really make sense until the very end
