Metamorphoses by Ovid

3.0

Kind of cheated on this one. Read until ~300 and then skipped through only the stories with the characters I'd already heard of. But yeah I don't see the vision. On the longer stories, the scene setting feels great because there's so much detail but it's uncomfortable to read today. It's the written equivalent of hitting your ear wrong. I'm sure this is the greatest book/poem of Antiquity but I don't actually believe that people today still love it more than anything else. I feel the same way about them as I do people who think 2001 A Space Odyssey is the best space movie of all time. You don't buy that man; it was just a great feat of its period.
A good few funny little jokes in it though.
