Quicksilver is the first book in a new Romantasy series which follows Saeris who lives in a world with limited water and is violently cruel. When one day she steals something belonging to the queen, she is brought to the palace and finds herself in a fight for her life. But soon she is dragged into a magical world of Fae and is forced to work alongside the annoying Kingfisher to try to figure out how to protect his soldiers before it's too late.
I picked this book up because we were reading it for our book club and I am so glad that I did! I really throughly enjoyed this book and was instantly sucked into this book.
By and far my favorite character in this book has to be Kingfisher. He is so snarky and hilarious and I loved him for it. He's someone who has gone through a lot but still keeps on pushing and fighting despite all the things he has gone through. I also really enjoyed watching Saeris come to understand and get to know him. I thought she was such a fascinating character to read because she definitely is not someone who sits by and lets things happen to her. She really pushes to do everything herself and I loved it.
I thought this world was richly written about and really pulled me even more into the story. I thought the storytelling was so well done and I really found myself being immersed in this world every time I picked this book up. The vast contrast between Saeris's world and the fae world was so intriguing to explore and I just throughly enjoyed it.
My jaw was fully on the floor for the last 100 pages of this book because I didn't see any of the things happening that happened. It really brought a pleasant surprise to the story and one that I really enjoyed.
I cannot wait for the second book to come out because this one left me so intrigued and wanting to explore this world more. I would definitely recommend picking this book up because it was so good.
