Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
3.0
I just finished reading this aloud with a group of fifth and sixth graders. While I enjoyed the book and the relationship between the two characters, I thought it was a bit rushed. I don't feel like I had time to connect with the characters before the ending of the story. The students, on the other hand - really enjoyed the book and identified perfectly well with the story.
I do think that there are beautiful passages about friendship and loss and that the ending of the book is absolutely perfect. It is definately a book that young people will enjoy and that can open discussions that may help introduce difficult topics.
