Das Geheimnis des Weißen Bandes by Anthony Horowitz
3.5

I have long been captivated by all things related to Sherlock Holmes, and Anthony Horowitz’s meticulous research is unmistakably reflected in his vivid evocation of Victorian London. His attention to historical detail lends the narrative a rich sense of time and place that feels both authentic and immersive. While the plot gains considerable momentum in the middle sections, the resolution unfolds at a slower pace, somewhat diminishing the tension built earlier in the story. Ultimately, however, I found that the greatest pleasure lay not in the mechanics of the mystery itself, but in the nostalgic tone of Dr. Watson’s narration—his elegant reflections on an adventure shared with a cherished companion. It is this unlike, yet wonderful frienship, more than the twists of the plot, that lingers long after the final page.
