A Discovery of Witches
by Deborah Harkness
DID NOT FINISH: 30%
The romanticization of vampire Matthew's violent impulses was decidedly *not* sexy. I was hate reading this cause sometimes it's fun to complain about how dumb a book is, but I couldn't stomach the toxic masculinity. Main character Dianna had no self-esteem which was incredibly annoying and clearly needed therapy for her family issues and her attraction to men who make her fearful. DNF. Do not recommend.
Graphic: Body horror, Body shaming, Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Toxic relationship, Stalking
Moderate: Death, Blood, Death of parent
