It took me some time to get into the book. There is a lot of world building. I felt like I was thrown in and had to sink or swim. The glossary was life saving.
At first, I felt like I didn’t understand all the emotions and flashbacks Raeve was feeling, but it made more sense as I read. Often I found myself frustrated with Raeve. But OF COURSE I continued reading and found out she was the way she was because of past experiences and she wasn’t being obtuse for the hell of it. She was the way she was to protect others.
Kaan was a great character. Very patient! I hope there is a nicely wrapped up book 2 with a happy ending.
