I don't want to talk about this book too much, because I feel like it is one of those books where it is best to know not too much beside the synopsis. But I really loved this book's world building in terms of the different cultures that this world is made up of, their history and the magic of it all. Tarisai also was such a lovely main character to follow on her journey, and I loved the things she was motivated by. She and Dayo probably were my favourites, but I think there also were many more characters where I truly appreciated the depths that they were given. Lastly, one of my favourite things about this book is that I never knew where the story would take me next, which meant I really devoured this book, and am incredibly hooked for the sequel. I consider this to be peak YA Fantasy.
