On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan

5.0

Ian McEwan is a true literary master of delving into human emotions and picking apart that which is rarely spoken of. Rereading On Chesil Beach was a true delight. The subtlety of the story, yet the sheer complexity of it is a marvel. This novella left me feeling heavy and so melancholic, evoking my own memories of inadequacy at love. I could read it over and again, but for now I will let the words play in my mind. The recent film adaptation is also beautiful and eloquent.
