okay, this was good enough that I’m looking forward to the next one—but idk how hopeful I am.

1. this felt like Fourth Wing with dire wolves. which actually would have been pretty sick… but I’m not even a wolf girlie and I didn’t get enough wolf. lots of missed opportunities there, in my humble opinion.

2. and I hate to be the person who compares everything I read to a SJM novel, but I feel like Sorensen tried to
do the “Tamlin thing”
with Killian and she was NOT slick with it? was she trying to be?
I knew off rip Killian wasn’t ultimately going to be the MMC and the couple’s graphic on-page sex scenes were
EXCRUCIATING.

3. Meryn, in general, started off so promising and  just unraveled like a fool partway through. she was so painfully dense at times. I tried to give the character some grace by putting myself in her shoes, but I shouldn’t have had to make such a conscious effort to relate to the protagonist—I think the author could’ve helped me with that a little more; it is fiction after all. and romantasy at that lol.

also is Stark a GOT reference???
