Record of a Night Too Brief by Hiromi Kawakami

4.0

A fun little romp divided into three short stories. While the first one was my favorite of the three, it was also the most abstract. I loved the whimsy of it all and while it did take me a bit to get used to the flow of things, I fell in love with the characters and their journey. I like to imagine there were two narrators, but I may have been missreading it.
The other two stories are fine but not as poignent as the "night too brief" and I'm thankful for it being the leading story.
I can't really say much without spoiling the experience, but I recommend it for a short, bittersweet and trippy type of afternoon.
