Arthur struggles to feel accepted in todays world. He sees flashbacks to his life with his father. Meanwhile, dark and dangerous creatures swim to the surface from deep, deep below. Arthur and Mera are at the Lighthouse when an officer knocks on their door asking for help. They go north to a little town that was attacked by the monsters: The Trench. The monsters are fought off by the Atlantans, but the citizens and the military still aren’t appreciative of Arthur. With the help of Dr Shin, Aquaman and Mera learn where the monsters come from and journey to their home.  Arthur fights off the monsters and seals off the Trench, returning the kidnapped civilians back to the surface. Finally earning a slight bit of respect.
