This is a very good book. I liked the development of the four female characters. It was important to see them make their own way, instead of being overly influenced by their lovers. I was also captivated by the author’s potrayal of Black society in 1910s Chicago.
The things I would have changed have to do Harrison and John. I really like Ruby and Harrison but I would have liked to know more about his background and flaws. John’s described as particularly charming to people but I didn’t feel that way. I also would have liked to know what was John’s issue with Harrison.
Overall, this is a very good read that I will recommend to others. 😊
