Sidelined: Sports, Culture, and Being a Woman in America
by Julie Dicaro
I was curious which would win: my total disinterest in all things sports, or my adamant interest in all things feminism. Turns out that despite knowing next to nothing of the industry, this was a remarking and compelling read. A hold out of the “me too” movement, the sports culture in America is deeply misogynistic, with stalking, sexual violence, trolling and straight up cruelty as a daily part of life for professional women in this industry. This was eye-opening for me and written bravely and engagingly. Despite the heaviness of the content, I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend
