Keep a full box o' Kleenex nearby while reading this one. What a devastating book - a harrowing look at the emotional roller coaster that is the foster care system, for both foster child and foster family. I heard about this book via mock Newbery lists, and I think this will appeal to the same reader base that liked Okay for Now.
In the midst of all of that emotion, I was very fond of the musical theatre-obsessed Toni. She was a standout character.
