Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West by Dee Brown

4.0

The stories in this book are devastating, but important to know. I was shocked by how much information is in this single book, and frankly how short it is- though it is long made even longer by what an emotional read it is. It is an overview of history, and I find myself ready to read more in depth about these tribes, leaders, cultures, and people having finished it. The scope of the books is incredible. The pictures, direct quotations from tribal leaders in this time, and the oral story-telling narrative style make it unique.
