4.0

From all the hype I heard about this book I was expecting more, however this is a Tor Teen book - so then from that angle it was a really good book.

I know it sounds like everyone else but I would die for Alistair Lowe. He is the only character I liked from the very beginning and his last chapter made me feel like I was watching a scene from a badass movie.

I liked some of the other characters well enough but I felt like a lot of the rhythm of the book was lost jumping from one character to another. One of the things I love about the Hunger Games is that it’s told from one side - which makes the story flow evenly and faster. For this book having multiple characters and multiple points of view really slowed down the story and made it feel like the “battles” were rushed to get to the next part of the book - it was almost like hitting bullet points.

All in all it was enjoyable and will be waiting to read the second book.
