Willow James shows how tough it is on young adults that age out of the system. Also how easily they can become prey. Priest comes upon someone that makes him act a little strange. Being the first book in this series, we get to learn a little something about the other men in the Heaven’s Guardians.

This story shows the reality of life in the twenty-first century – no more Mrs. Cleaver or Donna Reed world. Our author shows that this is more of the harsh reality of today’s society. But white knights still exist. They just don’t ride horses anymore. In this modern age it’s the motorcycle that has replaced the horse. Maybe this is a modern fairy tale – what Sleeping Beauty doesn’t want a Prince Charming to kiss them awake.

For me, it was getting to know this group of men and Willow that kept my attention. The tension and angst was a nice added treat but I was more interested in how the author developed her world and how it was going to play out across the series. Until I read the next book I won’t know if this could be considered a standalone. You might find that you like where this story is going so getting ready for the next book isn’t an option. Even though the ending seemed a little bittersweet it didn’t stop my need for more.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
