This was an unexpectedly cozy, reflective, and soft sci fi novella. I found such simple pleasures in the crew’s relationships and interactions with one another, the joy in their discoveries, and the heartache in their frustrations. This book felt very human and realistic while remaining (to my limited understanding) rooted in science and space travel. Also really appreciated the casual queer representation (trans, aroace, lesbian, and bisexual characters)
My favorite sci fi novels are ones that are ultimately about humans and their relationships and leave me feeling hopeful. This perfectly scratched that itch
