The Last Daughter

4/5 stars!
really promising book to start off a series. the relationship between vali and ailsa was beautifully written and fleshed out— it felt authentic, not fake or strained at times, which is definitely a thing some YA fantasy authors struggle with. the world building is lush and descriptive, seamlessly weaving norse mythology with new characters and storylines, but i understand some people with no prior knowledge of norse mythology may struggle with grasping it.
i really enjoyed this! i’ve been on a fantasy kick lately and this was exactly what i wanted.
