“An important part of growing up is letting yourself see the world around you as it truly is, even if you don't like what you see or your own complicity in it.”
The scandal kept me intrigued and I found this book to be hard to put down. I enjoyed the two separate timelines joining together, I think it made for a more enjoyable experience.
It was interesting reading this from Chloe's point of view. She gave me really mixed feelings. On one hand I wanted to feel bad for her because none of the scandal was her choice. But on the other hand, she suspected something- she should have said something- especially after seeing the printed documents. I was always questioning her throughout, which gave me an unsettling feeling. Right when I thought that was everything- there was more.
It's risky to write from the perspective of unlikeable characters with unlikable families but this was refreshing because it was something different. Besides Isla, I love Isla.
I think this would be a great read for students applying to colleges. They can learn from Chloe's mistakes and know that they should always be themselves on any college application.
