Patriarchy of the Wage: Notes on Marx, Gender, and Feminism by Silvia Federici

challenging informative reflective

4.0

An excellent slim collection of Federici’s work across her career. While at times repetitive in sourcing and theme, the author’s work does a fabulously job of explicating the importance of Marx’s theory and  philosophy for feminism while also acknowledging and critiquing its limitations with regard to women’s liberation and unwaged labor. Federici also provides important context to the “Wages for Housework” movement, which—if remembered at all—has often been misunderstood or intentionally misrepresented.
