The Girl in His Shadow by Audrey Blake

this was a great story idea, but not the best execution.

i have personal beef with the nickname/name Nora, so i won’t mention what i think about that.

the book felt slow for nearly the entire thing, except when we FINALLY get to the grilling of gibson and harry, elanour’s confession and the fallout of everything. and then after, it takes forever and a day for the climax to be resolved. and it’s going to italy? okay i guess lol

the romance felt very oddly paced and poorly written. nora and harry’s attempt at building a romantic tension felt out of left field. daniel’s engagement to mae didn’t make sense to be mentioned or even a subplot. the weird love corner between nora, harry and daniel was extremely clunky and didn’t fit into the plot well. daniel’s sudden attraction to nora felt like watching a toddler forcibly shove a triangle block into a circle hole.

the characters felt flat and one-dimensional, the plot moved at a jarring pace, and i REALLY hate the name
nora as a nickname for elanour.
