I read other Meryl Wilsner books and really enjoyed them but I never gave this one a chance because I couldn't really relate to the synopsis. I thought it was going to be yet another sports romance.
I should've known better, given that Wilser always makes her characters very 3-dimensional and clearly crafts them with love and care.
After I heard that ATouch More is going to turn it into a movie, my curiosity got the better of me and I gave it a shot. And boy, am I glad I did.
This book handles neurodiversity so well, I almost cried. It is such a nuanced portrayal of ADHD and Autism, and there is never any judgement.
There is trans inclusiveness and non-binary characters.
There is friendship, love, tension and so many other things that make this book an absolute gem.
I really hope they will do it justice when they write the script.
