thank you TLC booktours for access to the review copy of The Night Birds (from spotifyaudiobooks). A compelling and eerie plot and a well produced audiobook effectively read by Sean Patrick Hopkins and Patricia Santomasso make this a solid choice for readers looking for something stormy, witchy, and twisty.
This is a great read for many horror/suspense fans, what was challenging for me was the idea of people coming after a baby, it was a little too much for me and wish that the plot had centered more on something else, it was uncomfortable for me to listen to a whole story with an infant in peril... The setting and early storytelling, and character development, are strong but overall this one didn't work for me, even with a strong slow burn plot with strong build to a striking climax.
