I need more of Marianne and Connell.

This short story was written before the book and it shows. The characters are still underdeveloped, but are obviously still the same characters in essence. However, Connell’s character here comes off as cold and detached - hard to sympathized with, unlike the Connell that we all know and love from the book.

I liked this story in the sense that I like to imagine these characters years later after the book, that they’re still in each other’s lives accompanying each other in mundane tasks like going to the dentist. Although I don’t like the idea that years later and they’re still failing to communicate their feelings towards each other, that they’re not together!! But again, it makes sense since this story was written prior to the book.

In my head, this is just a normal day for Marianne and Connell of going to a dentist appointment as a couple.
