Halira Davenport has vanquished the demons from Arcathain and restored the magic. Of course they call her a hero. Now there will finally be peace. But soon they realize that there are other monsters out there. Some even closer than Halira wants to admit...

This is a prequel for Jessaca Willis' new series "Blood & Magic Eternal", but also a bridge between this and the series "Primordials of Shadowthorn". In the latter demons rages, in the new one vampires reign. I haven't read "Primordials..." (this is the first I've read by Jessaca Willis), but it worked well. We get enough information to understand the background, and it makes me curious for more!

There are three Davenport siblings and we get chapters from everybody's viewpoint; Halira, Kalli and Tor. They have very different personalities, which makes it really interesting - and frustrating. "Hunger & Cursed Shadows" is a promising introduction to a dark fantasy I'm sure I will enjoy!
